first_imgA man found dead at a home in Hazel Dell on Monday has been identified by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.Matthew M. Clark, 43, died of an apparent gunshot wound, the sheriff’s department said in a bulletin issued Tuesday morning. It said the precise cause of death would be determined by the Clark County Medical Examiner.The case is being investigated as a homicide, the bulletin said. The Clark County Regional Major Crimes Unit is investigating and following up on leads, but no arrests had been made as of Tuesday night. The incident was first reported just before 6:30 a.m. Monday at 9610 N.E. 25th Ave., which is on an arterial street in a residential neighborhood near Northeast 99th Street.Clark was described as a self-employed tattoo artist with a heroin and methamphetamine problem, according to court records of his criminal history. With 20 criminal convictions in his past, Clark has been in and out of prison in the past decade, mainly for theft-related crimes.In the 1980s, as a juvenile, Clark was convicted of a number of burglaries. He was convicted of more property crimes in the 1990s, with his most serious conviction being first-degree robbery.Most recently, Clark was arrested in June and later convicted of criminal impersonation.
